It’s a little late, but never too late to still wish you: Blessed New Year!
I hope your 2019 kicked off to a good start and stays that way. As for me, it’s been a time of deliberate rest and recuperation from a super-stretched 2018. As such, I made a conscious decision to not accept any ministry engagement for the very first month of the year. And I’m glad I did.
I spent the past four weeks catching up on things and with people. It was nice not having sermons to prepare and presentations to set up. On Sundays, I appreciated the freedom to attend services and simply worship. With more time throughout the week, I enjoyed the space to think and to create. Yes, rest is biblical, good and absolutely necessary; especially for one who will reach CPF-age this year (grin).
As I wrote in my second book:
With each passing decade, and then each passing year, the frailty of our physical bodies hits home much harder. Where I was previously able to bounce back rather quickly after a demanding stretch of work, it takes a lot longer to recover these days. Life has a way of showing us what is truly important and needful. It is not that I want to slow down, but I have no choice but to slow down. Yet, this does not mean that less gets done. On the contrary, in resting in the Lord, more is achieved by His power and grace.

This is what I will keep in mind as I brace myself for what’s ahead. My very first teaching session of the year will be this Wednesday at KINGDOM101. As much as I tried to be careful not to take on too much, the need to serve kingdom leaders and saints got the better of me. After Chinese New Year, the Lord has lined up more than a few opportunities for the message of Archippus Awakening to be declared in Singapore and beyond.

If you have not already done so, check out the revamped website of Archippus Awakening. This was one of the projects I worked on in my time of rest. It took a bit of effort to learn some new stuff before I eventually got the hang of how to set things up. Have a look and give me your feedback. More importantly, share it with the body of Christ so that more will get to be awakened, aligned and assigned for Jesus.
The time of rest also meant more time and space for my wife and children. That said, I am quickly discovering that growing teenagers may not always be around for you just because you have time to spend with them. God willing, this year will see two or three of them in tertiary institutions. Our eldest will turn 21 and the youngest will hit double-digit: 10. 2019 is another PSLE year (our sixth!). Yes, the children of the Lim Tribe are all growing up – too fast, too fast.
Through it all, God remains so gracious and so very faithful. Even as I rested and did not preach over the past weeks (read as: no honorarium), we experienced the Lord’s favour and provision. Looking back, I stand amazed and always in awe of how He has seen us through each and every year since I stepped into the work of the kingdom way back in 2004. I believe 2019 is not going to be any different because He is still the same and will continue to provide for our family’s every need.
To this end, we give thanks for all who have responded obediently to His prompting to sow into our family and ministry. We never take this for granted and are deeply appreciative of your love, generosity, support, partnership and prayers.
